Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change the file surfaces on my SlidaFile™?

Holding the file vertically, place one hand on the handle, near the end cap and place the other hand on the tip of the file. Rotate the end cap until the cap is aligned with the shaft and push the handle down so that it travels along the side grooves/channels. Now reposition one hand so that it grabs the file surface at the top and the other hand to be placed on the handle to help sliding the handle along the file surface in a downward motion. Once the handle reaches its end point, use a swift motion to bring the handle towards the bottom which will lock it into place. This will enable the end cap to lock into place due to it being spring loaded. The SlidaFileÔ is now ready to use.

How do I clean my SlidaFile™?

It is recommended that you use a microfibre rag or soft cloth to wipe over the file surface that has just been used. Then, turn the file around and clean the other surface too. Use your finger or a pointy object such as a screwdriver to scrape the grooves/channels on either side of the file surface where the handle slides along to remove any debris. Then, slide the file through and clean the other two surfaces.

If you find that the handle seems hard to slide, this could be caused by debris stuck in the grooves/channels or tight tolerances from manufacturing. If you notice some debris in the groove/channel, clean the file thoroughly using the instructions above. If your file is brand new, ensure that a swift action is used to slide handle from one side to the other. The SlidaFile™ will become easier to slide over time, with use.

It is suggested that you lightly oil each file surface after use to prevent rust. A good quality light machine oil is favoured.

How long will my SlidaFile™last?

The SlidaFile™ file surface is made from hardened steel and the handle from robust engineered plastics. By following the recommended care and cleaning instructions, the SlidaFile™ will last for many years to come.

Where did the SlidaFile™originate?

The SlidaFile™ was born in the Blue Mountains, just outside of Sydney. It was designed after the SlidaDriver and has a similar function. Whereby the handle slides from end to end and cannot be removed. That means, it cannot be lost, making it a very unique and handy tool for tradies and DIYers alike.

What materials should I avoid using the SlidaFile™on?

Avoid using the SlidaFile™ on all timber.

How to store the SlidaFile™?

The SlidaFile™ can be stored in a tool box, tool drawer or any other storage system you may have for your tools.
